The Center for Spatial Information Science and System (CSISS) (formerly known as Laboratory for Advanced Information Technology and Standards, short as LAITS) has been extensively using NASA's HDF-EOS format to be the base file format for storing and processing data from the Earth Observing System (EOS). In responding to the requirement of many Java-based web application server, we have been using JNI (Java Native Interface) to bridge the C library of HDF-EOS and Java programs. Based on the interface, some object-oriented wrap-ups were developed.
