Dec. 21, 2005: The LAITS has been approved by GMU to upgrade to the Center for Spatial Information Science and System (CSISS). The center will be in operation on Jan. 1, 2006.

May 2, 2005: The LAITS extended their Apple G5 XServer and RAID system to 6 dual 2.0GHz processor, 14GB momory and total 22.52TB storage. The system is located in NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) and connected to Internet II.

Apr. 13, 2005: The second-year annual review of NASA-sponsored project "Integration of OGC and Grid Technologies for Earth Science Modeling and Applications" was held at GMU/LAITS.

Apr. 12, 2005: Grid-enabled Data and Product Download is opened to the public. It provides Grid-enabled retrieval and downloading of various remote sensing data such as Landsat data, MODIS data, ASTER data, etc. Grid software -- Globus Toolkits 3.2.1 is used here.

Apr. 9, 2005: Grid-enabled OGC Catalog Service for Web (CS/W) is ready. It makes Catalog Service for Web (CS/W) Grid-enabled and works as a Grid Service for the registry and discovery of geospatial data and services in Grid environments.

Apr. 1, 2005: Data and Product Download is opened to the public. Users can search and download various remote sensing data such as Landsat data, MODIS data, ASTER data, etc. Currently we have more than 10 TB data in our repository.

Mar. 31, 2005: NASA-sponsored project "NASA EOS Higher-Education Alliance (NEHEA) -- GeoBrain" website is released.

Mar. 25 2005: Multiple-Protocol Geospatil Client (MPGC) v1.0 is released. MPGC provides an interoperable way of accessing geospatial Web services, especially those from OGC, for integrating and analyzing distributed heterogeneous Earth science data.

Mar. 14, 2005: OGC Catalog Service for Web (CS/W) is ready. CS/W implements OGC Registry Information model (OGCRIM) and supports the registry and discovery of geospatial data and services.

Mar. 7, 2005: SOAP based Web service interfaces to Open Source GIS software GRASS is finished.

Jan. 21, 2005: BPELPower is published for Web Services Orchestration. It now supports BPEL-based web service chain completely.

Jan. 7, 2005: GeoBrain team wins Open Geospatial Design Competition. "not only brought together multiple OGC Specifications and CarbonTools, but also integrated with the Google search engine.
