Some
tools for getting subset, converting and displaying various formats
data in HDF/HDFEOS files. Please read the
README file first.
Get a subset of a swath based on user-defined spatial bounding box. If a user does not know the spatial range of the input swath, the tool will display this information by searching the file's metadata. If the input swath does not include geolocation fields (e.g., MODIS ocean products), the tool will search for the input geolocation granule ID.

HDF2EOS:
Convert IMAPP generated MODIS L1B product in native HDF format to HDF-EOS format. The tool was originally developed for NASDA (Japan) and GISTDA (Thailand). IMPORTANT NOTE: This tool will permenantly change the input HDF file. Please read the readme file before running it.

Attrinq:
Display information stored as global and field attributes (including all metadata) in an HDF or HDFEOS file. The information include number of science data set (SDS), SDS data type, dimensions and dimension sizes, etc.

Swathinq:
Display information of swath in an HDFEOS file, including number of swaths, number of dimensions, fields, data types, data/geo mapping relationships, etc.

Gridinq:
Display information of grid in an HDFEOS file, including number of grids, number of dimensions, fields, data types, projection parameters, etc.

HDF Translator Tools
Provided tools can convert HDF files to plain binary, geoTiff, ascii ARC/INFO grid, and shape files.
HDFtoBINARY (hdf2bin):
Download different version's executable files which convert HDF or HDFEOS file into plain binary file. Usage of the program will be printed on screen upon typing the executable name, e.g., hdf2bin-solaris. Platforms available: SUN Solaris, SGI Irix, Linux, and Windows.

HDFtoASCII (hdf2asc):
Download different version's executable files which convert HDF or HDFEOS file into ascii file (NOTE that the output ascii file size may be vary large). Usage of the program will be printed on screen upon typing the executable name, e.g., hdf2asc-solaris. Platforms available: SUN Solaris, SGI Irix, and Windows.

HDFtoGIStranslator:

Capability
Creation Tools
CreateCapabilities
is a software tool which is developed for NWGISS to create the XML_based
capabilities document automatically. The capabilities file contains information
about the server's capabilities as well as data (e.g. HDF-EOS files) served
by the server. CreateCapabilities reads HDF-EOS structure information,
converts it to layer structure, and encode it in XML.
